The church of Auchindoir was erected as a prebend of Aberdeen Cathedral by Bishop Elphinstone on 25 March 1513 and in June of that year was incorporated with the University of Aberdeen by Bishop Dunbar, thus becoming a Prebend and Canonry of the College Church. Up until 1962, the kirk session was within the jurisdiction of Alford Presbytery, after which time it was within the jurisdiction of Deeside and Alford Presbytery. Ministry began within the session in 1563 under John Philip, minister. Auchindoir was united with Kearns by the Commisioners for the Plantation of Kirks in 1618, that union beig severed in 1638. Once again these two sessions were united in 1792. After 1926, a provisional union with the United Free Church of Auchindoir was formed under the ministry of Rev. W. L. Davies from Sorn, followed by a formal union in 1929. On 18 November 1956 Auchindoir became linked with Kildrummy, that link being terminated on 1 April 1964 at which time these sessions formed a union. |
