The old church of Insch, formerly know as Inchmabany and which now stands in ruins, was dedicated to St Dorstan and belonged to the Abbey of Lindores. Ministry is recorded at Insch from 1567 in the name of Stephen Mason. Until the late 20th century, when the session fell within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Gordon, the session was within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Garioch. The kirk session of Insch-Leslie-Premnay-Oyne was later created on 30th November 1983 by the uniting of the Parishes of Insch, Leslie-Premnay and Oyne. |
