United with Halkirk, West, in 1933 The Kirk session of Halkirk is within the Presbytery of Caithness, the Parish was one of the original ten parishes established by the Bishop of Caithness in the 12 century. Halkirk was a prebend of the Cathedral of Dornoch and the parish church was dedicated to St Fergus. The parishes of Halkirk, Skinnet and Spittal were united in the 16th century. United with Halkirk, West, in 1933. Halkirk linked with Westerdale and Halsary on 11th November 1970 and the three sessions later united on 1st April 1986 to form the Kirk Session of Halkirk and Westerdale. |
