The Church at Gullane dedicated to St Andrew, belonged to Dryburgh Abbey. The old church was removed in 1612 by Act of Parliament and transferred to the Parish of Dirlton. Dirlton being perceived as the most convenient venue for parishioners, Lord Dirlton was authorised to physically demolish the kirk at Gulane and transport all the materials to Dirlton. The ruins of the Parish Church can still be see in the centre of the old churchyard. A parish was not established at Gullane until 30th October 1903 when Gullane was erected into a parish quoad sacra. Gullane was linked with Aberlady in 1986. The kirk session originated within the Presbytery of Haddington and currently falls within the Presbytery of Lothian. |
