Archival history |
Glenbuchat was originally a chapel at Logie-Mar until it was erected a parish in 1473 by Bishop Thomas Spens of Aberdeen. Within the deed of erection of the parish the case cited was the journey the parishioners faced when traveling to the exiting place of worship at Logie, 'through an uninhabitable tract of country and desert mountains, amid which in one day five or six people perished when going to keep Easter at Logie Church'. The church of Glenbuchat, which sits in the Presbytery of Alford and Synod of Aberdeen, was dedicated to St Peter. Glenbuchat was linked on 30 June 1955 with Kildrummy, this arrangement was however terminated on 18 November in favour of a union with Towie under the name of Glenbuchat-Towie. |
