When the New Town of East Kilbride was formed, the population in the area incresed considerably. Glasgow Presbytery decided that the spiritual needs of the people of this new town were not being properly met, and so decided to establish a Church Extension charge in the area in 1957, the congregation being named East Kilbride South Church of Scotland. Full Status was granted in 1960. Initially, the congregation worshipped in a hall, but a new church was erected in 1964. |
