Archival history |
Originally, the church at Loudoun belonged to the Abbey of Kilwinning, but in 1738 the parish church was transferred to a new location at Newmilns. In 1929 the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church, and at this time the church at Loudoun became known as Newmilns Loudon Old Church of Scotland to distinguish it from the former United Free charge. The congregation united with that of Newmilns Loudoun East in 1980 to form Newmilns Loudoun Church of Scotland.
It seems that the spelling of Loudoun / Loudon is interchangeable. |
