The Church of the parish of Trinity Gask, which sits within the Presbytery of Auchterarder, was dedicated to the Holy Trinity. Between 1220 and 1223 Gilbert, Earl of Strathearn, granted the church to the Abbey of Inchaffrey, the present day church was built in 1770 on what is likely to have been the site of the original building. Pre-reformation there is evidence that this was not the only church existing within Trinity Gask. The other, the ruins of which still stand, was situated at Kinkell and dedicated to St Bean. In 1639 the two churches were united under the name Trinity Gask and later, in the early 18th century, a Secession Church was built near the ruins at Kinkell. Ministry is recorded at Trinity Gask from 1564 under the person of Sir Thomas Scott. Trinity Gask was united with the new church at Kinkell, which had previously been attached to Madderty, on 27 December 1930 to form the parish of Trinity Gask and Kinkell. A further link was formed with Madderty in 1962 however this was severed in 1984 in favour of a link with Muthill. |
