Cookney Church began as a chapel-of-ease in 1817, and the parish was disjoined from Fetteresso on 16th March 1859. The charge was linked with the congregation of Bourtreebush Church of Scotland in 1954, however this arrangement was terminated in 1982, and in the same year Cookney was united with Maryculter to form Maryculter and Cookney Church of Scotland. The charge was then linked to Banchory-Devenick, but this was terminated in favour of a union in 2000 to form Banchory-Devenick and Maryculter/Cookney Church of Scotland. |
