The register of the Synod of Galloway begins on 25 October 1664. Stranraer, Wigtown and Kirkcudbright were the three Presbyteries that originally formed the Synod. In 1929, during reorganisation of Synod boundaries, the Synod of Galloway ceased to exist and the Presbytery of Kirkcudbright was transferred to the Synod of Dumfries, and Stranraer and Wigtown became a part of the Synod of Ayr. |
