Archival history |
The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Laurieston was granted permission to form into a separate congregation from the Stirling congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in 1784. It was four years before the first minister, Rev. John Reid, was appointed in July 1788. In 1789 the first church was built. In 1863 the church was built on its site in James Street, Laurieston. In 1876, The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Laurieston became the Free Church of Laurieston. In 1900 it became the United Free Church of Laurieston and in 1929 it entered the Church of Scotland and took the name Laurieston West. The congregation united with Laurieston St Columba's on 25 April 1945 to form Laurieston Parish Church. |
