The Kirk Session of Wamphray, which was united of old to that of Johnstone, records ministry from 1632 and the church of the parish held a dedication to St Cuthbert. In 1959 Wamphray was linked with the charge of Kirkpatrick-Juxta however this linking arrangement was later terminated in 1971 in favour of a link with Moffat. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Lochmaben, later of Annandale, and following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, became part of the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright. |
