A church was built in 1864 which was named Wells of Ythan Church, after the wells, or springs, of the Ythan in the neighbourhood, and in 1869 the parish of Ythan Wells was disjoined from Forgue and Auchterless and erected quoad sacra. In 1948 Ythanwells formed a union with the congregation of Forgue Auchaber, under the name of Ythanwells Auchaber Kirk Session, and in 1992 further union followed with Forgue Inverkeithny to form the charge of Auchaber United. Auchaber United was linked on the same date with Auchterless. The kirk session of Ythanwells sat within the Presbytery of Turriff. |
