Prior to the reformation Knockando existed as a vicarage dependent on Inveraven and the session records ministry from 1573 in the person of Alexander Gordon. The parish church was rebuilt in 1757 and was later enlarged in 1832, and again in 1868, by 1900 however the building was considered to be too small and was rebuilt in 1906. In 1990 the church was gutted by fire and as a consequence had to be entirely reconstructed. In 1968 Knockando united with the charge of Elchies and Archiestown, under the name of Knockando, Elchies and Archiestown, and a link was later established in 1982 with Rothes. The Kirk Session of Knockando sat within the Presbytery of Aberlour and later of Elgin. |
