The kirk session of Ettrick , the church of which held a dedication to St Mary and belonged prior to the reformation to the Abbey of Melrose, was united in 1650 with that of Buccleuch. In 1934, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, the Tuchielaw portion of the former United Free Church congregation of Ettrick Tuchielaw was joined to Ettrick and Buccleuch. Ettrick and Buccleuch later linked with the charge of Kirkhope and a number of years thereafter in 1976 the two congregations united under the name of Ettrick. Additionally in 1976 Ettrick was linked with Yarrow. Ettrick and Buccleuch Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Selkirk and later of Melrose. |
