In 1828 a parliamentary church was built within this district and in 1833 Hallin-in-Waternish was constituted a parish quoad sacra by the General Assembly. A number of years later in 1847 the parish was disjoined from that of Duirnish by the Court of Teinds. Hallin-in-Waternish became known as simply Waternish and in 1961 Waternish was linked with the charge of Snizort South, this arrangement however was terminated in 1972 and in 1974 Waternish was reunited with the parish of Duirnish, under the name of Duirnish. A number of years later in 1999 the charge of Bracadale was formed by the union of Bracadale and Duirnish. The Kirk Session of Hallin-in-Waternish sat within the Presbytery of Skye. |
