The parish of Logie-Coldstone, which was formerly a prebend of Aberdeen and whose church was dedicated to St Neachtan of Mortlach, was united in 1618 with the parish of Logie-Mar. After the union a new church was erected at a central and more convenient location to serve the newly united parish, this building was later rebuilt in 1780 and again in 1876. In the beginning the united parish was named Logie-Mar and Coldstone (or Colstone) however Mar was later dropped from the title to leave the charge styled Logie Coldstone. In 1933, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Logie Coldstone united with the Cromar portion of the former United Free Church congregation of Tarland and Cromar, under the name of Logie Coldstone and Cromar. Further union later followed in 1945 with the Migvie section of Tarland and Migvie to form the charge of Logie Coldstone and Migvie and in 1954 Dinnet was linked with this charge. In 1984 the parish of Cromar sat within the Presbytery of Kincardine and Deeside and was formed by the union of Logie Coldstone and Migvie with Coull and Tarland. |
