Fala, which derives its name from the hill upon which the parish church stands, prior to the reformation, belonged to the Preceptory of Ednam. The Church was dedicated to St Modan. Ministry is recorded from 1591 in the person of James Hastie, who is also listed as a charge of Soutra. Fala was united with the parish of Soutra and the Kirk Session is commonly known as Fala and Soutra. Fala and Soutra united in 1980 with Cranstoun, Crichton and Ford. The Kirk is in the Presbytery of Dalkeith. |
