The parish church of Kirkmichael in Strathardil [Perth] was dedicated to St Michael and belonged, prior to the reformation, to the Abbey of Dunfermline. The session records ministry from 1562, in the person of John Hammil. In 1956 Kirkmichael united with the charge of Straloch mission, under the name of Kirkmichael and Straloch, and a further union followed in 1978 with Glenshee to form the charge of Kirkmichael, Straloch and Glenshee. The united session declared a continued vacancy between the years of 1994 and 1998, and after this period a link was established with Rattray. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dunkeld, later of Meigle and, following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
