The church of Parton which was rebuilt in 1534 and again in 1834, held a dedication to St Inan and the session records ministry from 1564, in the person of Charles Geddes, reader. In 1961 Parton was linked with Crossmichael and a number of years thereafter in 1999 the two linked charges were united under the name of Crossmichael and Parton. Crossmichael and Parton was additionally linked on the same date with Corsock and Kirkpatrick Durham. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Kirkcudbright, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright. |
