Prior to the reformation the church of Innerwick, which was rebuilt in 1784, belonged to the Abbey of Paisley and the session records ministry from 1567, in the person of Michael Boncle. Upon the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Innerwick Parish Church was named Innerwick St Andrew's and in 1937 Innerwick St Andrew's united with the former United Free Church congregation of Innerwick North. The two charges joined under the name of Innerwick and in 1959 a further union was established with Spott to form the session of Innerwick and Spott. A number of years thereafter in 1994 union occurred between Innerwick, Cockburnspath and Oldhamstocks to form the charge of Dunglass. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Haddington, later of Dunbar and , following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, became part of the Presbytery of Lothian. |
