A church was built and endowed in the district of Kelso North in 1837, largely at the expense of James Nisbit, a publisher and a native of Spylaw. After the disruption of 1843, and up to 1865, the church was retained by the Free Church, however in 1868 the building became the parish church of Kelso North when the parish was disjoined from that of Kelso and erected quoad sacra. In 1940, following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Kelso North was united with the former United Free Church congregation of Kelso Trinity, under the name of Kelso Trinity and North. Further union later followed in 1980 with Kelso St John's Edenside and Ednam to form the charge of Kelso North and Ednam. The kirk session presently sits within the Presbytery of Jedburgh. |
