Kirriemuir South church was first opened as an extension church in 1835 and in 1870 the parish of Kirriemuir South was disjoined from that of Kirriemuir and erected quoad sacra. In 1961 Kirriemuir South united with the charge of Kirriemuir Livingstone under the name of Kirriemuir St Andrew's and in 1996 Kirriemuir St Andrew's established a link with Oathlaw Tannadice. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Forfar until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Forfar, the Presbytery of Arbroath and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
