The parish of Kinlochspelvie was established in 1845 when it was disjoined from Torosay and erected quoad sacra, a parliamentary chapel, which was to serve as the parish church, had been erected here a number of years prior in 1828. In 1954 Kinlochspelvie united with the charge of Torosay, under the name of Torosay and Kinlochspelvie, and a link was established with Salen and Ulva in 1960. Further links later followed in 1972 with Kilninian and Kilmore, and also with Tobermory. The kirk session, which sat within the Presbytery of Mull until 1963 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Lorn and the Presbytery of Mull were united together under the name of Lorn and Mull. |
