The parish of Maud was established in 1889 when it was disjoined from Deer and New Deer and erected quoad sacra, a church had been opened within the area a number of years prior in 1876. In 1932, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Maud Parish church joined with the former United Free Church congregation of Maud Trinity. After the local union the charge continued under the name of Maud and the former Trinity church was converted for use as a church hall. In 1975 a link was established with the charge of Savoch, the two session were later united in 1996, under the name of Maud and Savoch, and in 1999 New Deer's St Kane's linked with the united parish. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Deer, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
