The two ancient parishes of Kilcalmonell and of Kilberry were united prior to the year 1560, with each parish retaining its own church after the union. The churches of both Kilcalmonell and of Kilberry formerly existed as a prebend of Lismore. In 1965 the united charge was divided, and on the same date the parish of Kilcalmonell was linked with Skipness, and Kilberry established a link with Tarbert. Both kirk sessions, which remain active today, sat within the Presbytery of Kintyre, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when they became part of the Presbytery of South Argyll. |
