The parish of Glenprosen was established in 1874 when it was disjoined from that of Kirriemuir and erected quoad sacra by Decree of the Court of Teinds. In 1946 Glenprosen was united with the charge of Clova under the name of Glenprosen and Clova, and a further union followed in 1954 with Cortachy and Memus, to form the session of Glens. An additional union was later established in 1999 between The Glens and Kirriemuir Old, under the name of The Glens and Kirriemuir Old. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Forfar until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Arbroath, the Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
