The parish church of Kingussie, which held a dedication to St Columba and which was rebuilt in 1624 and again in 1792, formerly existed as a prebend of the Cathedral of Elgin and the session records ministry from 1567, in the person of John Glass. During the year 1580 Kingussie was united with the old parish of Inch however this union was later dissolved in 1869. Following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Kingussie Parish church became termed Kingussie St Columba's and in 1957 Kingussie St Columba's united with the former United Free church congregation of Kingussie St Andrew's, once again under the name of Kingussie. The kirk session is presently linked with the charge of Alvie and Insh, sits within the Presbytery of Abernethy. |
