The kirk session of Arbroath St Columba's was established in 1959 by the union of Arbroath Erskine and Arbroath Princes Street, and further union followed in 1973 with Arbroath Ladyloan, under the name of Arbroath Ladyloan St Columba's. Arbroath Ladyloan St Columba's later went on to unite in 1990 with Arbroath St Margaret's to form the charge of Arbroath West Kirk. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Arbroath until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Arbroath, the Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun, were united under the name of the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
