Prior to the reformation the church of Monigaff, which was also known of old as Minnigaff, belonged to the Bishop of Galloway and the session records ministry from 1567, in the person of John Stewart. In 1962 Monigaff established a link with the charge of Bargrennan however this arrangement was dissolved in 1994 and a further link followed in 1996 with Kirkmabreck. The kirk session, sat within the Presbytery of Wigtown until 1963 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Wigtown and the Presbytery of Stranraer united under the name of the Presbytery of Wigtown and Stranraer. |
