The Kirk Session of Selkirk St. Mary?s was established following the Reformation in 1560. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1563. Prior to the Reformation, the church belonged to the Abbey of Kelso. Selkirk St. Mary?s formed part of the Presbytery of Selkirk until 1929, when it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose. With the restructuring of presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. In 1963, Selkirk St. Mary?s united with Selkirk West, under the name Selkirk St. Mary?s West. In 1986, it united with Selkirk Lawson Memorial and Selkirk Heatherlie, taking the name Selkirk, and was linked with Ashkirk and with Caddonfoot. The link with Caddonfoot was terminated in 1992. |
