The church of Kincardine, which was rebuilt in 1799, was dedicated to St Columba and the session records ministry from 1567, in the person of Farquhar Reid. At the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Kincardine parish church was named Kincardine East and in 1947 a union was established with the former United Free Church congregation of Kincardine West. Additionally in 1947 the charge of Croick formed a union with Kincardine, with the three congregations joining together under the name of Kincardine and Croick. Further union later followed in 1966 with the charge of Edderton, to form the session of Kincardine, Croick and Edderton. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Tain until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Sutherland. |
