The parish of Hillside was established in 1879 when it was disjoined from that of Montrose and erected as a separate parish, quoad sacra. In 1955 Hillside formed a link with the charge of Dun. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Brechin and later of Brechin and Fordoun, until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Arbroath, the Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
