The church of Ardersier formerly existed as a prebend of the Cathedral of Fortrose and the kirk session records ministry from 1569, in the person of John Smith, reader. At the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church Ardersier Parish church became termed Ardersier East and in 1963 Ardersier East was united with the former United Free Church congregation of Ardersier West. The two charges joined together under the name of Ardersier and a link later followed in the same year with Petty. The kirk session presently sits within the Presbytery of Inverness. |
