The church of Lochrutton, which held a dedication to St Patrick, belonged of old to Lincluden College. The session records ministry from 1567, in the person of John Little. In 1962 Lochrutton established a link with the charge of Terregles however this link was terminated in 1981 in favour of a link with Kirkpatrick-Irongray. The arrangement with Terregels was subsequently re-established in 1997 and the three linked charges were later united together under the name of Irongray, Lochrutton and Terregles. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright. |
