The parish of Aberlour, which was known of old as Skirdustan, was dedicated to St Drostan and was formerly a prebend of Elgin Cathedral. The session records ministry from 1574, in the person of George Leslie. In 1930, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Aberlour Parish Church and the former United Free Church congregation of Aberlour were joined together. Both churches were retained after the union. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Aberlour, later of Elgin and, following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
