The vicarage of Galston belonged of old to the Ministry of the Red Friars of Fail, and the church of the parish , which was rebuilt in 1809, held a dedication to St Peter. The session records ministry from 1563, in the person of John Barron. Following the 1929 union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Galston parish church was termed Galston Old and in 1980 a union was established with the charge of Galston New, once more under the name of Galston. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Ayr and Kilmarnock. |
