Gorbals (I) Church, Glasgow, originated in a chapel of ease opened in 1730, leading eventually to the disjunction of Gorbals from Govan in 1771. The church, in Carlton Place, was dedicated in 1811. Gorbals (I) terminated in 1943 on uniting with John Knox and Tradeston as Gorbals John Knox. It was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Glasgow and Ayr (later Clydesdale). |
