The Presbytery of Annan was proposed in 1581 and was initially known as Middlebie. Out of the Presbytery of Middlebie was created the Presbytery of Langholm in 1743. At this time, the meeting place of Middlebie Presbytery moved to Annan, at which time the presbytery became known as Annan Presbytery, within the Synod of Dumfries. This presbytery seems to have been encompassed within an expanded Presbytery of Dumfries in 1929. |
