The church of Drumoak, which was known of old as Dalmayock, was dedicated to St Mayota and was formerly a prebend of Aberdeen. The old parish church of Drumoak was rebuilt in 1806. In 1934, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Drumoak parish church (also termed Drumoak East) united with the former United Free Church congregation of Drumoak West. A link was later established with Durris in 1987 and the two charges have since united under the name of Drumoak and Durris. The Kirk Session of Drumoak sat within the Presbytery of Aberdeen until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Kincardine and Deeside. |
