Glenrinnes was first established as a mission station under the Royal Bounty Committee in 1725, and the parish of Glenrinnes was later disjoined from Mortlach and Aberlour and erected quoad sacra in 1865. In 1967 Glenrinnes was united once again with the charge of Mortlach under the name of Mortlach, and further union followed in 1982 with Cabrach to form the session of Mortlach and Cabrach. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Aberlour and later of Strathbogie, until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Strathbogie and the Presbytery of Fordyce were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Strathbogie and Fordyce. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
