The parish of Kilmeny was established in 1849 when it was disjoined from that of Kilarrow and erected quoad sacra. There stood at Kilmeny an ancient ruined church, which was replaced by a parliamentary church during the early part of the 19th century. In 1962 Kilmeny established a link with Kildalton however this arrangement was terminated in 1973 in favour of a linkage with Kilarrow. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Islay and later of Islay and Jura, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of South Argyll. |
