The Kirk Session of Armadale was established in 1886 when the parish of Armadale was disjoined from that of Bathgate and erected quoad sacra by the Court of Teinds. Following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free church in 1929, Armadale Parish Church became known as Armadale West, however, when the former United Free Church congregation of Armadale East was dissolved in 1973, the parish church became known once more as Armadale. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Linlithgow and later of Bathgate, until the name of Bathgate Presbytery was changed by the General Assembly of 1964 to Livingston and Bathgate. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of West Lothian. |
