The congregation, which was later to be known as Whitburn Brucefield, joined the Free Church in 1852 and a new church was built for the charge in 1857. The congregation was reduced to a preaching station in 1904 but was once more raised to full status in 1908. The Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Bathgate until 1964, when the General Assembly changed the name of the Presbytery to that of Livingston and Bathgate, and following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of West Lothian. |
