A chapel was built in Gartmore in 1791 and the first minister of the quoad sacra charge was inducted in 1795. The parish was disjoined from Port of Menteith and Drymen and erected on 19 July 1869. In 1929 the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church, and the congregation took the name of Gartmore West at that point, to differentiate it from the former United Free congregation, termed Gartmore East Church of Scotland. The congregations of Gartmore West and Gartmore East united in 1936; the united session simply named Gartmore Church of Scotland. A further union took place in 1957 with Port of Menteith but this was converted to a temporary linkage in 1976. Gartmore was linked to Buchlyvie in 1983. |
