Prior to the reformation the Parish of Oxnam belonged to the Abbey of Jedburgh and the session records ministry from 1574, in the person of James Ainslie, reader. The parish church of Oxnam was rebuilt in 1738 and later renovated in 1954. In 1961 Oxnam was linked with Roxburgh and a further linkage followed in 1977 with Crailing and Eckford, all links with Oxnam however were dissolved in 1999 and the charge declared a continued vacancy. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Jedburgh, later of Jedburgh and Kelso and presently of Jedburgh. |
