The church of Kinclaven was granted to Cambusnethen by King William the Lion at a time prior to the year 1195 and in later years it became a prebend of Dunkeld. The parish church of Kinclaven was rebuilt in 1848. Following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929 Kinclaven Parish Church was termed Kinclaven Tayside and in 1939 a union was established with the former United Free Church congregation of Kinclaven Kirk O' the Muir. The session reverted back to the name of Kinclaven after the union and the former Kirk O' the Muir buildings were later sold. In 1976 Kinclaven established a link with Bendochy however this arrangement was terminated in 1988 and in the following year Kinclaven was instead linked with Caputh and Clunie. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dunkeld, later of Perth and, following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
