A parliamentary Church was erected at Ullapool in 1828, which later became the Parish Church of Ullapool when the parish was disjoined from Lochbroom and erected quoad sacra by the Court of Teinds in 1859. At the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, the congregation of Ullapool United Free Church and Ullapool Church of Scotland joined together. Following the union the old parish church was sold and the former United Free Church continued in use as the place of worship. Further union later followed in 1956 with Lochbroom, under the name of Lochbroom and Ullapool. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Lochcarron and later of Chanonry and Dingwall, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
