The Kirk Session of Kininmonth and New Leeds, which sat within the Presbytery of Deer and later of Buchan, was established in 1940 when, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Kininmonth Parish church united with the former United Free Church congregation of New Leeds. Kininmonth Kirk Session had previously been established in 1874 when it was disjoined from Lonmay, Longside, Deer, Strichen and Crimond and erected quoad sacra, the church had been erected a number of years prior in 1837. Following the union of the two charges both churches remained in use. The congregation was later dissolved in 1978. |
