The Kirk Session of Eddleston was established following the Reformation in 1560. Prior to that, the church was a prebend of Glasgow. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1560. Following the establishment of presbyteries by the General Assembly in 1581, the Kirk Session of Eddleston became part of the Presbytery of Peebles. With the restructuring of presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. In recent years, several changes have been made to the parish: in 1977 it was linked with Peebles Old, and in 1984 with Lyne and Manor. This latter linkage, however, was terminated in 1992. |
